Link Love 6.7.15

Hi humans!

Happy Sunday! I love Sundays. Always have, always will. Church makes me happy and I love that Jarrett and I have made it a part of our Sunday routine.

Today I’m here to share some Link Love with you all from the past week or so. I hope you enjoy these reads as much as I did, because clearly I liked ’em enough to share with all of you!

Change your thoughts, and you change your world.

Perfectionism and Eating– Huffington Post

Very certain that my perfectionist personality is one of the many contributors to my eating disorder.

Let’s Talk About Thin Privilage– Everyday Feminism

An interesting take on a very controversial issue. As someone who was accused of “being anorexic” WAY before I had an eating disorder simply because of my small size, this hits home for me.

Shame on Body Shamers– Everyday Feminism

“If we want to start undoing the hurts of a culture that’s focused on body shaming and body policing, we have to be willing to step outside of our religious devotion to the idea that any kind of body can be wrong.”

Why Waist Training is a Bad Idea– Yahoo

Yeah, this is literally one of the most ridiculous trends that our society has adapted. I have friends on Facebook posting photos of themselves working out with waist trainers and I want to virtually punch them in the face. Or just tighten their corset even more.

Kind of body-image related, but to me it is mostly just about how life needs to be embraced, appreciated, and we need to be grateful for what we have.

Are you an almond butter or peanut butter person? Or any other nut butter?! There are so many now!

  1. I LOVE the sleep cycle app! I’ve been using it for years and it has the best alarms. I also really like duolingo for keeping up on my French. And damn, I could have used that reference citing app in college!

  2. You always post the best links ❤
Anyway, I agree with you; waist training is just about the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. IDK if this counts as waist training, but my mom bought this waist wrap with magnets in it, in an attempt to decrease her levels of visceral fat. I was just like, "You know, you COULD just do 10 minutes of HIIT cardio a few days per week." But NOOOO, she'd rather expose her internal organs to potentially harmful magnetic waves. 😐
So, yeah. Waist training is super stupid.
And as for the nut butter preferences, I've only tried almond and peanut butter, but I think I like them both equally. I'd really like to try cashew butter sometime!!
Hope you have a swag-tastic Sunday. (Yeah, I really just said "swag-tastic") 🙂
