WIAW: A Day of Eating Out!

Hi Humans!

It’s Wednesday, and I’ve been longing to participate in What I Ate Wednesday for TOO LONG. The only thing holding me back was the fact that I always either forgot or felt weird about photographing every single thing I ate. I know, I know…I’m lame.

But not today! On Monday, I photographed just about everything I ate. I was out and about, so many of the things I ate were on-the-go. Let’s take a look, shall we?

For breakfast, I was still at home. Sunday night I ate a lot–I had no power so I essentially had nothing to do besides eat. Because of this, I wasn’t too hungry in the morning. Regardless, I know I have to eat SO I DID!

For my morning snack I had to have a beloved Quest Bar. Because DUH. I also was at Starbucks, so I opted for another White Mocha. 🙂 Just a tall, this time. Still very calorie dense and DELISH.

For lunch, I had just spoke at a high school for my work, and I happened to be right by Chipotle….when you happen to be right by Chipotle, you don’t even question it. You turn into robot mode and you walk in there and you get Chipotle.  I opted for a bowl with white rice, black beans, half chicken and half steak, sour cream, cheese, green salsa, and of course…GUAC. If you don’t get guac at Chipotle…don’t talk to me. Just kidding, still talk to me.

About three hours later I knew I needed a snack, and luckily I had brought some with me. A chocolate brownie Combat Crunch bar did the trick.

Screen Shot 2015-05-25 at 2.36.32 PMNormally, I don’t like to do too many protein bars in a day. I normally will prep food to bring with me but since I was gone for the whole day and don’t have a lunch box (really need to get one) I opted to bring some non-perishable snacks. Not complainin’!

By dinner time, I was about to head back to my house for the day. I assessed whether I wanted to eat the food I had at home or just stop and grab something on the way. I decided to make it a take-out day all the way! What did I choose…?

Port of Subs to the rescue! They don’t have these where I lived in California, and once I came to Reno I was able to try it for the first time. It’s significantly better than Subway and Jimmy Johns. Not as good as Mr. Pickles, but much cheaper and delicious. I got a foot long with turkey, provolone, pickles, onions, lettuce, honey mustard, tomatoes, and they also put salami on half which was weird because I literally did not ask for salami. I took it off, because salami is gross. Lawl. Yes, I ate this all. Gains.

I came home and got some work and editing done, then by about 8 p.m. I was ready for my gain bowl. 🙂

Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, a scoop of Quest Vanilla Milkshake protein, cookie crisp, and a chocolate cookie that I picked up from Port of Subs. The photo doesn’t do it justice–that thing was HUGE. And delicious.

After this, I had a few scoops of peanut butter to make sure I had enough calories for the day. Since stopping IIFYM and tracking at all it’s important that I am getting enough to repair my body still. I think I did pretty good for my first day of “intuitive” eating. I ate more than I was comfortable with–and that’s great. That’s what I need to be doing. I NEED THE GAINS!

I did, however, estimate the calories at the end of the day and actually found that this was all close to 4,000. Not too shabby.

    I am also recovering from Anorexia. Do you continue with the high calorie intake until you reach your ideal weight?

    I stared MinnieMaud last week and have gained 4kg! Is that normal to gain that much in a week?

    1. Yep, totally normal! I gained pretty much all of my weight back within a month (like 20 lbs!) and since then have been maintaining. I actually have about 20 more pounds to gain and am finding it to be quite a challenge since my metabolism is so crazy now! Your body will adapt super quickly and you’ll be able to maintain on more calories. Only if you’re consistent! Congrats on choosing recovery, by the way. 🙂

        My Dad wants me to stay in bed pretty much too until I reach my ideal weight – do you think that’s okay? Or could that do more harm to me?

      2. No, that’s totally okay. That’s exactly what I did! It’s kind of necessary because when you exert energy it burns sooo many calories right now. I suggest Netflix. 🙂


  2. I loved this post. You should definitely continue to do WIAW.
    I’ve never heard of Port of Subs, but it looks really yummy! I’ll have to try it if I ever go to Reno.
    Okay, please don’t hate me, but I am not a fan of guac. I’ve never liked avocado, even though I’ve tried it at least twenty different times. I’m more of a salsa girl. (:
    But Chipotle is delicious. Nuff said.

    I like Chipotle and guac, so I guess we can be friendz? We don’t have Port of Subs, but we do have subway and jimmy john’s? I like Jimmy John’s!


  4. YES, more of these posts. now for chipotle. of course i get guac but you HAVE to try to the tofu, its so good. also, get the honey vinaigrette dressing and pour it over the rice. heaven.


  5. I live in California so, no Port O’ Subs. We do however have about 4 Subways, a Jimmy Johns, a Jersey Mike’s, a Togo’s, and a Which Wich?all within a one mile radius.
    Guac, duh! Avocado is always a yes, please.
    Also, wanted to let you know I really like how your blog offers a variety. Your life is not just about recovery or your boyfriend or fashion so why should your blog be one dimensional? Thanks for being so open and honest about your recovery journey. I am about where you were a few months ago so it is helpful to see health improvements are possible. Absolutely no appetite at the moment which makes eating a chore. Good to see examples of how you fit the calories in.


  6. No port of subs around here but we have Jimmy Johns and the bread is SO GOOD! If I am on a date with someone and they do not order guacamole I will leave. There is no point in continuing that relationship. I also do no approve if they do not get chips or do not offer to give them to me. Chips and Guac=Chivalry


  7. In my country there’s neither a port of subs nor chipotle – but I would definitely order guac!!!
